Boot Camp

I love science.  I always did in school and I still love teaching it to my children today.  I don’t know what it is about it, it’s just FUN!

Have you ever watched Steve Spangler?  I was somehow introduced to him a few years ago and absolutely love watching him perform his demonstrations.  Who couldn’t be intrigued about science after watching a few of his clips?  What could be better, really?

I’ll tell you.  Steve Spangler in person!  Yes, that’s right!  I just registered for his “Hand’s-on Science Bootcamp”!!  I am so excited!!  It’s going to be a long wait for October 5.

Just thought I’d share. 🙂

In other news…

I’ve been needing to take pictures of the kiddos for my next post and our newsletter.  They aren’t being very compliant.  Their excuses are they don’t want to take pictures.  Yet, when I reach for my phone, I have little surprises left on it for me:

Don’t want to take pictures?  I don’t get it.

Maybe I should use these photos for their student IDs.  Let them carry those around all year. 😉

I have to admit those little surprises do make me smile. 🙂

Until next time,

Welcome!  Thanks for stopping by my new blog!

I debated whether or not to start a blog.  After all, I’ve had one specifically for our home-school journey before and failed.  I think I had maybe 5 entries all together.  I just couldn’t keep up.  This year, however, we are making a monthly newsletter for our friends and family who may or may not be interested in our daily lives and although the newsletter is a good start, it can’t tell the story quite like I want to tell it.  So, blogging it is!

We have started this school year off on the right foot.  It has taken 5 years to perfect, but we did it!  As perfect as it can get, that is.  All the years before, I would have to have the perfect curriculum and EVERY. SUPPLEMENT  I could get my hands on.  That was a lot of money and time down the drain because more than half of it would never be touched.  This year, it’s just the basics.  There’s just not enough time for anything else.  If you are reading this and are new to home-schooling, I hope you will take heed to the advice of “less is more.”  I also hope you will find ideas here in future posts to apply to your own home-school.  If there is anything that catches your eye, let me know! 🙂  I hope you can get what you need from this blog the way I did with others’ blogs.

So, to all you out there,  travel with us through our 5th year of schooling at home, on the road, in the woods, in the park, in new places…you get the idea.

Until then,

Mamamae
